How you'll be helping
Kittens found just in time!
Four cute kittens were discovered abandoned and dumped in a cardboard box in the Ashdown Forest. The four-week-old kittens were found by a dog walker and brought to us just in time. As well as being severely dehydrated and under-fed, they were taken in just before a heavy rainstorm lashed the area. Without this chance discovery, these vulnerable kittens – who were renamed Kieran, Karen, Kiri and Keith – would have almost certainly died.
Tania Marsh, Deputy Manager of Cats Protection’s National Cat Adoption Centre, said: “It was incredibly fortunate the kittens were found when they were, as they would not have survived much longer in the forest. It’s desperately sad that these kittens were simply dumped.”
All of the cats had deformed, stumpy tails, probably caused by a congenital abnormality and were given some much-needed hydration and nutrition. Sadly Keith had a congenital abnormality to both his hind legs and so was put to sleep on veterinary advice, but the other kittens responded well to the care and attention they received and have since been rehomed and are loving life with their forever families. Their plight, coupled with the fact one of the kittens had to be put to sleep, further highlights why it is so important to neuter cats and prevent unwanted litters being born.
Enter our Spring Raffle today and you will help us continue our work and ensure that more cats and kittens, like Kieran and his siblings, get the help they need.
